Attorneys that Ride
Attorneys seeking to represent injured bikers and motorcycle passengers are a dime a dozen. An internet search using keywords such as “personal injury lawyers,” “biker lawyers,” or “motorcycle lawyers” results in an overwhelmingly long list of law firms and attorneys wanting to represent injured bikers just like you. But, if you take the time to scroll past generic promises that they will ‘fight for your rights’, ‘seek adequate compensation for your injuries’, and ‘combat the bias and negative stereotypes associated with the motorcycle culture’, you will find that very few personal injury lawyers actually ride.
So, why should you choose the law firm of McFerrin & Zayed, PLLC to represent your interests? The reason is simple. We ride. Our attorneys fight to protect the rights of bikers because we are bikers. And our passion for riding is evidenced by the fact that on any given day, you are likely to find a motorcycle parked in front of our law office.
Colin has been an avid motorcyclist for the past 20 years, beginning with the purchase of his first motorcycle, a Kawasaki EX500, in May 1994 while stationed in California at Travis Air Force Base. Before shifting out of first gear on his maiden ride, he fell in love and found a life-long passion.
Colin subsequently transferred to MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida, where the warm climate and beautiful scenery made for perfect year-round riding. There were very few days over the next six years that Colin was not straddling his Kawasaki in search of a new run, enjoying a cruise along Bayshore Boulevard, or making new friends within the biker community.
After a brief stint in Germany during 2001, Colin finally returned home to Waco, Texas and enrolled at Texas A&M University to complete his undergraduate education. After graduating with a B.S. in Molecular and Cell Biology, Colin worked as a pharmaceutical representative for almost four years in the Waco area prior to attending Texas Wesleyan School of Law in Fort Worth. Not wanting to uproot his family, Colin remained in Waco and commuted three hours roundtrip almost daily while pursuing both his undergraduate and law school education. While many people would complain about such a lengthy commute, Colin welcomed the opportunity to spend more time on his motorcycle.
After graduating cum laude from Texas Wesleyan School of Law and passing the Texas bar exam, Colin opened the law firm of McFerrin & Zayed, PLLC with his friend and fellow motorcyclist, Ash Zayed. Although Colin changed bikes and locations several times over the last two decades, his passion for riding and helping those within the motorcycle community is just as strong now as it was in 1994. Colin currently rides a Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R.
After graduating from high school, Ash attended the University of Texas and, with the goal of becoming a pilot, participated in the Air Force ROTC program for almost four years. Ash earned a B.A. in Philosophy and, upon graduation, decided not to pursue his dreams of flying military aircraft due to his less-than-perfect vision. Instead, Ash attended law school at Texas A&M University School of Law in Fort Worth, Texas. While attending law school and becoming a licensed Texas attorney is not something Ash envisioned for himself, he is extremely grateful to have found his true calling in life.
Ash started riding motorcycles during his first year of law school and, like many people, he instantly fell in love. The rush of adrenaline, the freedom of the road, and the feeling of the wind are just some of the reasons he loves riding motorcycles. For Ash, riding a motorcycle offers a feeling of inner peace and independence that few other things in life can match. You know it is true love when a rider gears up just to ride.
Although Ash does not have as much riding experience as Colin, he is just as passionate and hopes to continue riding for many years to come.
